ANNUAL MEETING SET FOR JULY 8, 2010
BUFFALO, OK — Aging, small business development, and cedar trees will be the focus of the 18th Annual Meeting of the High Plains Resource Conservation of Development (RC&D) Council. State Representative Richard Morrissette of Oklahoma City will be the keynote speaker. Representative Morrissette was the author of the “Self Directed Health Care” bill which passed the legislature this session. The bill will allow senior citizens to remain in their homes longer before having to go to the rest home. Representative Morrissette was also successful in getting a bill passed that will stimulate use of cedar trees for economic development. He will discuss both subjects at the meeting.
The annual meeting will be held at 6:00pm, July 8, 2010, at the Northwest Inn in Woodward. Host for the annual meeting is the Woodward Tourism and Convention Bureau. While there is no charge for the meeting, donations to help with the cost of the meal are welcome. The meeting is open to the public. High Plains RC&D serves an 8 county federally designated resource conservation and development area and is based in Buffalo. Locally elected board members govern the Council and have a focus of utilizing natural resources properly to create new business and jobs. High Plains RC&D has utilized over $15 million in grant funds, program and contract monies to assist in the creation of over $150 million of new and expanded businesses and projects.
